The 3 Most Important Parts of a Company

What are the 3 most important parts of any company? Everyone has a different opinion. What's interesting is their answers and reasoning. Here's mine:

  • Customers
  • Employees/Suppliers
  • Process

In detail:

Customers

Without someone to buy what you're selling, you don't have a company. It doesn't matter if they're buying with money, time, or labor (eg. volunteer work). The non-profit organization to save the dodo would have little to do today.

Employees/Suppliers

These are the people who do the actual work. Employees the same as Suppliers to a company. They get paid money in exchanges for services and expertise. Generally speaking, if you treat them well, you'll get more out of your money.

Process

Process is the way in which you do things. You can always reach the finish line. But, did you use up all your energy in the first 10%, only to crawl the rest of the way? Did you check the weather the day before? Did you read the road signs? Did you run over any old ladies? Your process determines not just whether you'll reach your goals, but how well you'll reach them.
